Text Converter

Automating the conversion of text files to JSON format for narrative implementation in a video game.

Loading and reading .tvee files and extracting relevant data to create formatted JSON files.

Multiple small python programs capable of generating files as well as extracting dialogue for easier translations.

Phase 1
Problem Definition
This project sprang from an unrelated objective. I was in need of dealing with a bottleneck in implementing narrative in the game Skybound. The bottleneck existed when bringing text from the proram Twine and to the JSON format implemented in game.

Conversion would take hours to do manually and slowed down development significantly.
Initial version
My initial version worked as a rough prototype. It was capable of converting a single file at a time granted that the original file was strictly formatted.

User test and second version
The user test was conducted on myself. Which showed some pretty serious issues. The two main issues was the strict formatting and single file conversion speed. This made me make a way to test the formatting before conversion making the program easier to use.
Future development
In future I want to develop this tool further making a user interface and making it more generalized, so that the output format can be more generally applicable.
